The Bible says in the beginning, God created the
heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them. Not everyone
believes that, however. Many people embrace the theory of evolution. In a previous post of mine, I addressed the
results of a recent study which revealed that 12% of Protestant pastors said
they believe that people are the product of evolution and not creation!
find so puzzling about this finding is that these are preachers who supposedly
preach from the Bible which clearly says God created all things, and yet they choose to believe
The Bible says that if we want to see proof that God is the
Creator, we need only look up: “The heavens declare the glory of
God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day
they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no
speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes
out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4).
Let me share several of my thoughts about these powerful Bible verses:
“The skies proclaim the work of his hands.” The entire quotation above is taken from the NIV of the Bible. In the King James Version, firmament is used instead of skies. The firmament has to do with the entire expanse between heaven and earth. The stars, the moon, the sun, the planets, galaxies, etc. reside in this expanse. And the Bible says that all of these are the handiwork of God.
“Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”Through endeavors such as space explorations and astronomy, we continue to learn about this incredible world God has created, and the associated physics, chemistry, mathematics etc. Though I am not enthused by our ambitious expeditions, according to the psalmist, day after day and night after night, there is knowledge yet to be revealed.
“Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” The “voice” of God’s handiwork extends from one end of the world until the other. Hence, no matter where a person lives, he can see evidence of God’s masterful work by looking to the sky. In effect, God has provided witnesses for Himself in the firmament, and they speak a language that is universal to all the nations.
As for the evolution versus creationism debate, I choose to believe
the Lord’s report. What about you?
